Take Time to Slow Down and Breathe

I love this photo because you can see exactly what I’m doing… nothing… except enjoying my surroundings! I spent the weekend with my family and friends at a cottage and made the choice to relax, have fun and go offline.

In today’s world, we often find ourselves overwhelmed by everything we think we have to do. Our kids demand our attention, our jobs require our time and our relationships need nurturing. I don’t think I am the only one that wants to have a happy, well-balanced life…one where we take care of our emotional, physical and mental well-being.

Whether it’s checking our cell phone, emails or social media accounts, we seem to feel the need to ‘be on’ all the time – almost seems like we can’t survive without them. By disconnecting from technology for the weekend I had the time and space to reconnect with myself and to reflect on what’s important to me. It also allowed me to give others my full attention and just enjoy their company.

We are meant to spend time focusing on ourselves. We are meant to take time to reflect. We are not meant to feel guilty for taking time for ourselves. I came back from that weekend feeling rejuvenated and full of energy.

Taking time to slow down and breathe will allow you to feel joy and gratitude. It will re-energize you to take on your responsibilities with more enthusiasm and remind you of all that you are grateful for.

School is about to start and life will get busier. It’s important to remember to make time for YOU. It will help you navigate the challenging times and bounce back quicker.
